Hi friends!
A belated happy new year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and that 2024 has been treating you well so far.
As you may notice, I'm coming to you from a different platform than you may be accustomed to. For the past few years, I've used Mailchimp to send out emails but as Friends & Fiction has made the switch to Substack (more on that in a moment!), I thought it was time to make the move myself, too.
Nothing will change. I know that when many of you think of Substack, you think of a paid newsletter. Mine will continue to be free. At some point in the future, I might add a paid option, but if I do so at some point, it will be ADDITIONAL -- you'll still get my regular (or, er, irregular!) updates at no cost, just as you always have. The only difference is that the format will look slightly different since it's coming from a different platform.
Speaking of which... Friends & Fiction has also migrated over to Substack for our weekly free newsletter (if you aren't signed up, I encourage you to do so now at the link below).
We will continue to send you a completely free email every week, which will include news from the Fab Four, upcoming events, and links to our book club and merch store. We have also launched a paid Substack to bring you behind-the-scenes interviews, essays, and writing/reading content. We'd love for you to consider signing up for that, too, if you're interested
Many of you are familiar with Friends & Fiction, the community and weekly show I've been running for nearly four years (!) with fellow New York Times bestselling authors Mary Kay Andrews, Kristy Woodson Harvey, and Patti Callahan Henry. (If you haven't joined us yet, please do -- we are more than 235,000 members strong on Facebook, where we also host a weekly show every Wednesday at 7pm ET, which also airs on YouTube.) Did you know that we're about to celebrate our 200th episode? TWO HUNDRED, YOU GUYS. How is that possible? We hope you'll join us live this Wednesday (Jan. 17) at 7pm ET to celebrate, as we welcome mega-bestselling author Kristin Hannah, to hear all about her new book, our Friends & Fiction Pick for January, THE WOMEN!
Kristin Hannah is the award-winning and bestselling author of more than 20 novels including the international blockbuster, THE NIGHTINGALE, the instant No.1 NYT bestsellers THE GREAT ALONE and THE FOUR WINDS, and FIREFLY LANE, which was the No.1 Netflix series around the world the week it came out. Her novels have hit the NYT, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Indie bookstores’ bestseller lists; won the People’s Choice award for Best Fiction; been named Book Of the Month Club’s Book of the Year; been voted the Best Historical Novel of the Year by Goodreads; been chosen as book club picks by Reese Witherspoon and the TODAY Show; and been highlighted as best books of the year by outlets such as Amazon, iTunes, and Buzzfeed.
Kristin joins us to discuss her new novel, THE WOMEN (in stores Feb 6 from St. Martin’s Press), which is at once an intimate portrait of coming of age in a dangerous time and an epic tale of a nation divided. Watch the LIVE video broadcast of this interview Wed 1/17 at 7pm ET on the F&F Facebook & YouTube channel. Catch the audio version on our podcast on Fri 1/19. See you on the 17th!
